Reaching over still waters

My tears are ever streaming

Salty to the taste, this ingredient I offer

My feet are bound to the earth

Here upon my perch

Aching is my heart

The wind laughs

It’s sarcasm I cannot take

Smite my body cold and still

Bring forth your howls

Caution: I shall not move

I greet the elements

Do what they must

I cannot break

Try they must

Sacrifice I have given

Strong is my will

Yet I wait for my love

Forever still

For years I have weathered this storm

Yet he has not come

The water is no more

Brought by a drought

Once firmly planted feet

Now blown away by dusk

Failure I must admit

The wind’s victory insists

Withered is my soul

Aged I’ve become
